MUNICH. From October 20 to 22, 2026, the teams newly accepted into the Fraunhofer AHEAD funding program met in Munich for a kickoff workshop. Our project was represented by a two-person team from BatteryQuest and Fraunhofer IST. Our CEO, Frederic Schuh, was on site representing BatteryQuest.
The goal of our project is to combine testing and analysis procedures for battery cells on a single test bench so that they can be performed simultaneously and in one location. This eliminates the need for time-consuming transportation, and the associated electrochemical changes in cell state can be avoided. In addition, root cause analyses can be accelerated and time to market can be significantly reduced for our customers.
Our team used the three intensive workshop days to advance our project in three areas:
- Market: Which applications are particularly relevant for our technology, and what challenges and requirements do customers in these segments have? To answer this question, we conducted an initial round of interviews with market participants.
- Product & Prototype: How can we create a prototype for our product as quickly as possible, and what features should this prototype have?
- Team: What values do we stand for as a team? Who takes on which roles and responsibilities within the team?
We were able to discuss our ideas and approaches with experts and coaches on-site. We will use their valuable feedback in the coming weeks to continue working on our product-market fit. Therefore, we will refine our prototype based on further customer interviews so that it meets market requirements in the best possible way.
Would you like to learn more about our project, or perhaps even share valuable insights about the challenges you face in the field of battery testing and analytics during an interview? If so, we look forward to hearing from you!
